Management and responsible persons

Owner and managing director of the MedienLB company (Media for Curricula and Standards of Education Ltd.) is Dr. Anita Stangl, who has consistently dedicated all her professional life to the field of education. Dr. Stangl is a qualified primary school teacher, subsequently she obtained her Doctor of Sciences degree. Up to 2001 Dr. Stangl was head of Wildner Academy, a prestigious institute for continuing education. From 2001 she held several managerial positions with the tradition-steeped FWU, the media institute for all federal states, eventually becoming its managing director for several years. In 2006 she founded the MedienLB in order to produce still better media with innovative didactic aspirations. She is assisted by a team of education experts such as her fellow companion of many years  Axel Schramm, one of the most knowledgeable production managers in the field of education with over thirty years of experience. At present MedienLB has about 12 permanent employees and, in addition, a team of freelancers such as professors, teachers, educationists, graphic designers cameramen, cutters, IT specialists, programmers and quality managers.

Social Commitment

MedienLB considers its business model – the production of educational films for use in schools – as a social commitment to society. And it focuses its business activities accordingly. Thus, it is a matter of course that it counts among its MedienLB employees both young apprentices and very experienced long-time production assistants. It is precisely this cooperation of various generations that we think contributes an important additional value to the quality of our educational films. The most varied nationalities and linguistic diversity enrich our team and keep adding new perspectives and innovation upon innovation to our DVDs! Moreover, MedienLB has been actively supporting children in Africa together with Worldvision. For three years MedienLB has appeared as a sponsor of the chess team of the SK Jenbach, a cooperation that was crowned by the Austrian Championship title in 2010.

Products

MedienLB stands for innovative DVDs for use in schools. Interactive worksheets, subtitles for enhancing reading ability, multilingualism as well as comprehensive accompanying material are the outstanding characteristics of the MedienLB DVDs.

The MedienLB products are didactic DVDs for use in schools in the first place. Apart from sequenced films, the media contain also photo series, animations, diagrams, text plates and many other options to be called up and used directly during lessons. Furthermore, each medium of the MedienLB company contains an extensive PC ROM part, in which teachers do not only obtain the spoken texts, link lists, information on curricula and education standards, but are above all provided with the additional materials, the core pieces that have been particularly adapted to each film. They do not only encompass coloured transparencies, traditional printed worksheets, footage but MedienLB are the first on the market who have provided also interactive worksheets since the year 2008. As a worksheet does not become interactive simply by the pupil’s writing his or her name on it, MedienLB produces really interactive worksheets  with the notebook software of the powerful partner Smart Technologies. Thus, the pupils have the possibility of achieving learning success playfully by using up-to-date technology. In particular the new interactive worksheets are ideally suited for online distribution as well. All MedienLB media offer at least three soundtracks (German, English, Turkish and, if need be, French, Italian and Slovenian). All MedienLB productions are new productions so that reuse of archival footage is almost impossible.

Success

Due to the clear structure of its media and their practical concept, MedienLB has developed, during the last four years, into the largest supplier of didactic in-house productions. At present the media are available in German-speaking areas (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein) as well as in Sweden. Thanks, not least, to MedienLB, the German education market has been noticeably livened up by an innovative and highly motivated new supplier, which justifies optimism especially in view of  future PISA tests.
